Political Cartoon #8

This political cartoon is about the Roosevelt Corollary. The cartoonist message about this Teddy Roosevelt guarding/patrolling the western half of the world. An opinion I can see someone form is that Roosevelt sitting on the top of the world mad. Another opinion I can see someone make is that Roosevelt is watching over the world because he is at the top.
A technique I see this here cartoonist use is Exaggeration. I chose exaggeration because Teddy Roosevelt is literally at the top of the world! Another technique i see this here cartoonist use is irony. I say this because its somewhat ironic how Roosevelt is at the top of the world even though we all know he was like the "policemen" of the western part of the world. This here cartoon does support my stance on American imperialism because the way Roosevelt made the Roosevelt Corollary it help somewhat with Americas growing power for more land.

Political Cartoon #7

This political cartoon is about the Open Door Policy with China. The cartoonist message about this cartoon is about how all the different countries coming together and thinking about how they want to trade with China.  An opinion I can see a person have about this cartoon is that every country is planning to do something with china because one person representing each country is surrounding China. A technique I see the cartoonist using is labeling. I chose this because literally the word "China" can be seen underneath Uncle Sam.
Another technique I see the cartoonist using is exaggeration. The cartoonist made one person represent their country and they are all standing next to the land of China. Also because the cartoonist made Uncle Sam bigger then everyone else. This political cartoon doesn't support my stance on American imperialism because i found this cartoon non-effective towards me. I felt this because I dint feel this persuaded me in anyway.

Political Cartoon #6

This political cartoon is about the Open Door Policy with China. The cartoonist message about this cartoon is about once China opened their doors for trade with everyone (except monopoly's) that America wanted to trade, share influence, and ways of life with China. An opinion I can see that someone can have is that America is going to China and like take over because Uncle Sam is carrying a lot of items with him. Another opinion I can see someone having is that America is going over to China and to somewhat take over.
A technique I saw the cartoonist use was labeling. I say labeling because the land Uncle Sam is stepping over is names "Philippines". Also any of the signs on China's land. Another technique I saw that persuaded me was the exaggeration. O chose exaggeration because one does not simply trample over one country to get to another. The joke here is that America didn't literally step on Philippines to get to china. No, they used boats and ships :) . This cartoon does support my stance on  American imperialism because this is somewhat the truth. America did do this in the past and I accept it because its true.

Politcal Cartoon #5

This political cartoon is about the panama canal. The cartoonist message is that Roosevelt is the building block of the Panama canal. An opinion I can see people having about this cartoon this that Roosevelt is like pulling along a bunch of boats around in a circle. Another opinion I can see someone having is Roosevelt is leading all the boats out of the Caribbean.
A technique I see the cartoonist use is labeling. I chose labeling because literally there are words in the sea like "Caribbean". Another technique I see is exaggeration. I say exaggeration because the cartoonist is exagerating Roosevelt's size and how he is pulling the boats/ships along with him. This cartoon does support my stance on imperialism because Roosevelt did help and create a better place for America. Well as far trading with other countries goes.

Political Cartoon #4

The political cartoon is about the Panama Canal. The cartoonist message about this topic is that  President Theodore Roosevelt is in the Panama Canal like he is guarding something. An opinion I can see something having is that Roosevelt is going down Panama in a boat and just having a nice ride. Another opinion I can see someone else having is that Roosevelt is going down the Panama Canal with a big stick to go kill/destroy something.
A technique I see the cartoonist use is labeling.  I say this because in the water next to Roosevelt says "Panama".  Also the stick Roosevelt has i  his possession says "The Big Stick". Another technique is Symbolism. I say this because the big stick Roosevelt is holding The term "Big Stick" diplomacy refers to Roosevelt's corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. This cartoon does support my opinion on American imperialism because the way America helped Cuba out, but then tell then you gave to join America was okay.
The term "Big Stick" diplomacy refers to Roosevelt's corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, coined by the famous phrase: "speak softly and carry a big stick"

Political Cartoon #3

The issue about this political cartoon is about the Spanish-American war. The cartoonists message about this cartoon is about how America wanted to help Cuba get out of the rule of the Spanish. An opinion I can see other people make is that America is going to Cuba and going to take over Cuba. I say this because as you see Uncle Sam is bring physically battle ships towards Cuba and it it looks like they are going to fight/battle Cuba for land.
One technique I can spot is labeling. I say there is labeling  beause in the clouds above Uncle Sam's head says "War",  the land of Cuba is literally labeled "Cuba" and above that is says "Havana". Another technique I see the cartoonist use is exaggeration. I say this because the cartoonist is literally making look like Uncle Sam is bigger then Cuba and is tall enough to walk in the ocean. Big exaggeration going on right here. This cartoon does support my stance on because America was truly trying to help Cuba get out of the hands of suffering from the Spanish so i think was nice.
